Question To much boost?

Ok I have a question I have a 05 evo and I just put a greddy rs bov, injen intake, and my vdo boost gauge. Ok everything is working perfectly except my boost my gauge is reading 27lbs and then bleeds back to 22lbs. This doesn't seem right, now my gauge has been sitting in my basement for a while it came off a previous 1.8t gti and when removed it worked perfectly. Any input or ideas?

did you bypass the boost solenoid completely, and do you have a full or partial exhaust setup?? Or, by chance, are you using a boost controller of some sort?? If you answer yes to either of these questions, then that's your problem. If no, then your boost gauge is probably not reading accurately anymore.

sounds about right, the stock turbo can't hold that much boost so it's gonna taper a lot!

No I am not using a boost controller and I don't have a downpipe or cat back no mods have been done aside from what has been listed. At a idle the car is reading 0 boost and then when you start to pull off it gradually increases once you mash the gas it shoots up almost right away.

Make sure it reads vac. Some gauges only read positive pressure.
