Basically, VTA messes with the MAF readings. It causes the engine to run momentarily rich every time it vents. It offers no performance improvement on a MAF controlled engine. it's purely "rice." If you run stand alone EMS such as the AEM or don't have a MAF, ie a honda which uses MAP, you can run VTA with no problem.
