05 EVOS can run VTA w/o problems!
VTA BOV blew up my 4g63 OH NOES!
well i installed the greddy type RS recirc, and it ran fine, very responsive, and no no stalling and idle was great.
today i tried to just run vta and see what happens just for the heck of it. I bought a "cap" from home depot lol to cover the intake piping into the turbo where the recirc adaptor should fit into(if you're doing recirc). And so I ran VTA. It is loud as F***.
And while running VTA, i had no stalling issues and idle was great. The throttle response wasn't as great as running it recirc. But i am not going to keep it VTA all the time. I may just leave it on(since theres no problems yet).
But of course internal problems that may lay near in the future: running a rich a/f because of the metered air that the mas is not recieving. F'd up spark plugs up and what not.
But i'm surprised there was no stalling or idle problems, i was giving it WOT a lot today , and no bogging down .......i guess the 05 evos w/ the new 10.5 hotside is different....in a sense its not as picky as 03-04 i mean of course altered maps and stuff.
But The recirc adaptor is still on the bov , it just isn't connected to the intake piping of the turbo...i can also put it back in, it'll take like 1 minute.
But just wanted to let you 2005 evos know. I advise you to buy a Recirc kit for whatever BOV you get, but you can always test to see if your car can "handle" a VTA.
Regards

do you live in a very hilly area? Besides fouling the plugs out extremely fast, I found driving up hills the really big problem running VTA.. The car would stall randomly after reaching the top of any hill.. totally not worth it when the stocker makes the same amount of power.

Theres a difference between 2004 and 2005. You have to learn the numbers! I mentioned in my first post that plugs would be foul'd , but I do not have any stalling problems.
The bov(recirc) is worth it though....Your plastic oem bypass is leaking. Recirc will hold boost and you will notice the difference between shifts.

It won't happen again. There's no value in posting this finding when it's already been discussed several times before and when the result provides no positive outcome - there is no reason to run VTA whatsoever.

Well, just because it doesn't stall or cause idling issues doesn't mean it "works." I know you alluded to that possibility, but the rice newb who reads this will not even pay attention to that and say, "Well evoISgroovy" said it was ok to run VTA on 05s!!!!

Later on down the week some evo owner will run VTA because "evoISgroovy" said it was ok, and he will stall in the middle of traffic. Then he will sign on to evolutiomn.net and post a frustrated thread.
I apologize in the future for that. I never knew I was highly revered in what is certain about BOV's.
