Clutch Cracking Sound answers from Dealership

They told me I should shift my stick at 4k rpm ........... they told me the cracking sound is because I am shifting at 2.5k rpm (coz I wanna save gas) and one of them actaully laugh at me saying that I shouldn't drive my car like a grandma .......

I am NOT, if there isnt cracking sound on my clutch or gearbox(transfercase)...

ok here are my problems (when I shifting at 2.5k rpm to 3k rpm)

1)when I release my clutch (3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th), I can hear crank or crack coming out from the bottom of my car (probably from the back).

2)when I shift into 3rd or 4th this sound is a bit different than above one. especially in the morning when the car isnt warmed enough.

anyone got any ideas ??? I am going to another dealership on Monday see if they wanna help me.

BTW .. this happened since the 2nd day I got my Evo (12miles)

Big Thanks if any of you experts can help me out. thanks

Is the engagement smooth? Is it something you can feel in the pedal or just noise? Stock clutch I assume? Some have had TOB issues but I'm not sure if that would relate to the 05 model.

hate to agree with the dealership but they are right. I got mine about a month ago and i have dogged it a few times to wear the motor in but in general stay really calm with it. But there is such a thing with this car as taking it too easy. I get the exact sound i think you're getting (Kinda like a clicking or clunking sounding like it comes from the rear differential) when i put it into a higher gear, either at too low RPMs or if i wait too long to re-engage the clutch and the engine revs drop too much. Again, just trying to take it easy and not slam the gears, but i know you've noticed just like i have when you get on it a little bit and shift pretty quick there is no noise. Logic should tell ya if the problem happens when you're not ******* it, start ******* it a lil' more. Like the dealer told ya get up to over 3k and shift a lil' quicker..............grandma.
just kiddin
your tranny isn't f'ed, don't worry.

ok, yup that also true, when I drive harder. sound goes away but the thing is .... is everyone here experience the same or its just you and me?

and if this is normal ... any mod or does change clutch would make the crack sound goes away ???

you know .. I already ignored the brake screaming sound ..Lol but now that cracking sound is getting annoying ..........

still .. lets hope we can get more more experts with their thoughts. so anyone who has the same problem will get an answer =) THANKS

how can you hear a crank/crack? sounds to me your not pressing/depressing the clutch correctly in time w/ your actual shift.......also dont drive in like 5th gear going 30mph (just for example) because to high of a gear on a low load can cause knock/pinging.

well I believe my pressing and depressing is fine because I tried many times with same presing and depressing, and the result is .. sometimes cracking sound .. sometimes fine ... and I never go on knocking/pinging coz I will make sure that every shift I made will keep its min rev/rpm.

also the sound isnt coming from the engine. 1 of them is coming from the rear bottom and one of them is coming from the gearbox =)

thanks .. and any of you having the same problems ?? if so please tell us how you fixed yours ? thanks

THANKS

My clicking sound seems to be similar to yours. When I'm engaging 1st and about to take off I hear the click sound sometimes just before I fully depress the clutch. Also I hear that noise when I'm rolling to a quick stop at times.

same kinda hing hanppened to me I think, but I also have to agree with the dealership guys (other than grandma part) I wanted to save gas too but that noise would come up. So then I just shifted a little higher around 3.5k and shifting was fine. hope you fix your problem okay!
