well as i read. befor the 280 not many run them. but they say run them if have a big turbo and WR is not big at all so i think it owuld hurt you. i would go for 272/272 so all range from low to high will have nice power. but thats my 2 cents

280s will have a lumpier idle and you will lose some spoolup (maybe 100 rpms on the WR), but the spoolup you lose, should be offset by the gains in the upper rpms. If you're planning on running racegas and higher boost, then I'd definitely go with the 280s.

ya but then with that its like how much of a gain are you going to get with 280 vs 272. and do you drive all the time or is it just a race car that only uses race gas thats the thing. and the way the evo was made it was for fast spool this and that. so i would want to keep like stock in ways. so i would say 272.272 would be the best for all around. becasue if want for good gain plus stock sounds almost is the best

I have 280"s in my car. I didnt lose any spool up, idle is a little worse then with 272"s. They pull all the way threw redline. 280's also make more power usually then 272"s in my case they did about 20 more whp .I couldnt be any happier with the results of them.

I'm def. going with the 280s. They make sick power and pull like crazy. I plan on using them on the stock turbo, untill I upgrade Who needs a good idle? Not I.

Thumbs up

if you have (or are) a good tuner, than there will be no issues with the 280's. you WILL appreciate the top end that 280's have to offer. i think Tomei is out of material & on backorder. those are the only ones worth it since they have 11.5 mm lift...

Im making the jump up to 280s from my 272s. Its technically only an extra $150 to do (granted u buy new 280s for 550 and sell used for 400). I decided to do it because I want the most power per mods and also, I have a bad lifter or 2 and I was going to take the cams out anyway.. so why not! If you do get the 280s, definitely get some cam gears and figure out what you want out of them. TopSpeed did a dyno of the 280s with all different cam timing and gave some good info.

I reciently went from a 264in 272ex to a 280in 272ex and it was worth the money.

Since you already have cam gears, you can time the 280s such that you can get a very good compromise of all worlds. Your gears will suddenly become much more useful.

They are only "worth it" if you plan on upgrading your valve train along with getting the cams. HKS would be more worth it, since you don't have to upgrade your valvetrain.

Also you can rev higher with 280s than 272s because the lift is less.
