Very impressed with the EVO IX! Comparison of VIII vs. IX

I created this list/chart to show how impressive the IX has been thus far when it comes to aftermarket modifications. It's absolutely amazing to see how well the EVO IX takes to basic mods.

2005 EVO VIII MR (Turbo Trix)
Perrin Cat Delete
TurboXS Down Pipe
Boost Controller
Greddy Ti Exhaust
Turbo Trix Flash and Tuning
312WHP (Dyno Jet)
307WTQ (Dyno Jet)

2006 EVO IX #1 (Precision Dyno)
Boost Controller
Turbo Back Exhaust
EcuTek Flash and Tuning
297WHP (Mustang Dyno)
302WTQ (Mustang Dyno)

2006 EVO IX #2 (Precision Dyno)
Boost Controller
Megan Racing Resonater
Greddy Ti Exhaust
EcuTek Flash and Tuning
292WHP (Mustang Dyno)
301WTQ (Mustang Dyno)

Just for sh*t and giggles

2003 EVO VIII (Precision Dyno)
FP White Rabbit w/ HP actuator
Boost Controller
02 Housing
HKS Downpipe
Ultimate Racing High Flow Cat
RMR Exhaust
Injen Intake
Greddy V-SPL FMIC
EcuTek Flash and Tuning
283WHP (Mustang Dyno)
260WTQ (Mustang Dyno)

2003 EVO VIII (FP White Rabbit and etc.)

2006 EVO IX #2 (MBC, Flash, Exhaust)

I'm not sure if I am more impressed with the IX or more disappointed with the White Rabbit. When I finally get a 2003 EVO VIII (used, only EVO I can afford) it is going to suck to put a whole lot of mods on my EVO and get pulled on by IXs with minimal modifications. Oh well I guess I can still f*ck with 350Zs and S2000s.

While I am not trying to discredit you but on my 2003 Evo with just intake/mbc and a downpipe/flash i put down 302/315 on TT's Dyno Jet

its really impressive because its precammed.
Anyone know the specs of the evo IX cams?

your 05' should get dynoed on the same dyno
Then you'll really would be impressed.
cause your numbers would be closer to the WR 03' evo.

So you put down 302/315 with the stock cat and stock cat-back? That's 10 more whp and 45more wtq than I did with a TBE on my 05. Did you run 12.3s at 110 like that?

Very impressive to say the least, especially with a 2003 model on stock cat and stock exhaust (That's got be one of the highest I've seen). But still the EVO IXs were tested on Mustang Dynos, you do realize that Mustang Dynos read low (or some would say accurate). In theory, the two IXs tested on a Dyno Jet would put down around 340-350WHP/350-360WTQ.

Not trying to put the VIIIs down, the VIIIs in my opinion, especially 05s make remarkable power with minimal mods. Just trying to get people's opinions on the IXs, I want to see how these cars do at the strip, if they can back up that power.

Im not even going to read any replies to my response. I apolgoize i read everything as a dynojet. I am wrong and my post is irrelevant. Forgive.

I have the 2nd IX, and I will be sure to let you know how it runs at the track, after all the mods are done and it is retuned. As far as driveability, the IX just feels 'smoother' than my VIII ever did...new or modded. As soon as this weather clears up I can give a better estimation of power...feel as opposed to dyno numbers. Thanks again to Precision.

If in theory I were to make 330whp+ on a dynojet with a very broad power band, still building HP to redline, stock cams, with just an intake/mbc/tbe w/ a cat on pump gas with a flash is that not impressive and inline with initial findings for this unit? The same findings that had this forum in an uproar for 2 mos.

The EVO 9 simply outdoes the the 03/05 bigtime on the stock cams. The turbo is equipped with a slightly larger magnesium wheel and has a larger compressor housing.

All this is irrelevant until tests are done to compare the 05 EVO8s and 06 EVO9s on the same dyno, in the same conditions. Until then these are just #s ...

I agree also. I told Nick to post dyno sheets of the 05 vs 06 with SAME mods and SAME conditions so their can be an accurate comparison between the 2 year models.

Is the IX on pump gas? Those graphs look like the ones that Precision Dyno posted at 23 psi.

I like the numbers, BUT the would be more meaningful if I saw the comparisons done both cars having the same mods, brand and all. My .02.

You gotta love that the IX platform provides a great car for making decent power with.. without having to completely ruin streetability.. yes you can make much more power right now with the VIIIs with the easy addition of cams, but If I could do it all over I would not be trying to make so much power.. just think, a couple simply bolt ons on the IX produce gerat power.. then just spend the rest on suspension and wheels. Its kinda intresting though that the different years and models all have things that make them great... i.e. the 2003 is still arguable the best drag racing platform.
