im sure we will try a new gauge (guess we have to). I really like the Defi D. 15 vacuum, yeah , my idle is very rough...everyone notices. Any suggestions on that as well?

If it is connected to the stock boost solenoid still (instead of an aftermarket boost controller), it may have gone bad like mine did (however, i have not heard of this happening to anyone else... other than me) but anyway, I got a MBC and it worked great after that.

this is the same problem i had with my evo when i bought it. upon searching this site i found out that the stock vaccum lines have a restrictor pill in them. i checked the lines on my car and found i didnt have them(generic vaccum lines). so i ordered new lines for $25 dollars from mitsubishi and was good to go....

what did you tap into for the gauge?? chances are you just got the vacuum lines mixed up when you reinstalled them...

i doubt its a pinched line or bad gauge...11psi is the max boost an evo will hit when there is a problem with boost control

when the map on my XEDE doesnt load, i always max out at 11psi

We have definately checked the hoses...no pinching going on. Even rode with the pod off the steering column. There is only 1 other evo in this town...he's cool so if i bump into him, i will definately take a ride. He has a downpipe only and he told me months ago he was boosting 20psi. I will try to get in that car! When my friend with the modded srt-4 first rode in it, he thought it was fast (he was really impressed with the handling). But now he says it he doesnt feel much power. Could be mental , i dont know. Forgot to mention his srt-4's turbo is only boosting 4psi now!! he thinks his turbo is dead at 36K. I still would rather have my 11psi EVO over any srt-4.

This is misleading as it depends on where you are. Here in the mountains a stock car will get about 10-12 in.hg on a good day.

search boost control pill.
i bought my evo used and the previouse owner had a mbc and when he returned it back to stock left the vaccum lines without reinstalling the stock vaccum lines with the pills inside

Ok,,, i think we're getting somewhere here...did you buy your evo used? So you had a boost gauge reading 11-12psi...got a MBC...and now its normal? I hope it is the restricter in the hose. My friend (now mechanic/tuner), says he knows where that is and will check. I just dont want to get a MBC right now, worried about warranty work.

Is the reason you got the gauge because you thought it wasn't pulling hard enough? If you think it feels fast, have you considered that you may have a bad boost gauge? I have a Defi D gauge, and mine is good, but I've heard horror stories of Defi D gauges reading incorrectly.

^^ answer this, and we'll know alot about the problem

No, i thought the car pulled plenty i assumed. But i came from an SVT Focus, so you can imagine. I just got the gauge to monitor the boost. Especially since the stock turbo had been replaced under warranty with Mitsu.

I don't think it's any coincidence that you're seeing 11psi, which is the standard wastegate pressure. The fact that the turbo was replaced means this car was probably modded and raced, which means it probably had a boost controller of some kind. You need to start by making sure the stock boost lines are installed instead of some regular vaccuum hoses as others have mentioned. You will need to get some pics/diagrams by searching on this site so that you know what it looks like. If you take a pic of your turbo/wastegate and all the hoses down there, I could tell you if it looks right. You'd just need to remove the stock airbox and take pics of the turbo/wastegate in addition to the boost control solenoid directly beneath the airbox.

Sounds like your vacuum hoses on your BC are backwards.

Yes, im sure the car was modded before, so i'm sure he had a boost controller. I will definately take pics of the lines tomorrow. Thanks alot for the offer. So has it come down to basically either replacing my hoses with new ones from Mitsu or getting a boost controller? I am trying desperately to get this fixed before Saturday. If its only $25 bucks for the hoses, nice...cant wait. I will get those pics for you ASAP...thanks.

Well, an MBC would be a very valuable, yet cheap solution for $85.

The stock lines are only $25, but have been difficult to find at times.
