all you need is a 10mm wrench for cam cover bolts. and (i think) a 17 mm wrench for the cam gear bolts, and a flashlite.

All you need is a 10mm socket, take the cover off, put the car in third gear, use the flashlight to find the timing mark in the h. balanacer, have a friend push the car foward intil the motor is at tdc, once there your cam gear timing marks should line up the with lines on the valve cover, if they don't your cam timing is off.

I know what the outcome is going to be when all is said and done. Timing will be off. My best suggestion to you is say the hell with what the installing shop might say and take your car back to them. Tow it if you have to, but take it back. The cam install is wrong, and these things happen to the best of mechanics. If he's reputable, he will stand behind his work and will explore the cause of your problem without much flak, and if the cam install is not the culprit, he should be able to identify the problem. If you don't trust him, get a second opinion from another mechanic or shop.

Also, if you're not comfortable working on you're own car, you really should not be modding it or having someone else mod it. Either set out to learn basic auto mechanics or quit while you're ahead and save yourself a LOT of headache. The unfortunate truth about modding is that as power increases, reliability decreases. Sorry, it's the truth of the matter.

dude,

it's been a day and a half since your original post. You keep saying you just want it to be over, but you haven't checked the crank/camshaft timing yet. I don't get it, with the suggestions people have made on how to do it, plus the link posted, it's not rocket science. At least try, no?

So did you figure anything out? Can your good friend that you've bought all these parts from look at the timing if your scared or don't have the tools to do it?

I think you would be safer taking it back to the technician then doing it yourself for he knows exactly where the marks should be, it's easy to do but you need a car that you know is on factory time to recognize what is good.

You might want to also email or print this thread for your mechanic, if he's reputable and stands by his work (I'm sure he is of course), he would go out of his way to check his work.

Remember we're not saying it definatley is the timing - we cant even see your car, we're just saying from the symptoms you're having that it is very likely, and it is the next step in troubleshooting,.

I got lost of track and forgot today is Holloween, Turns out I'll be too busy... beside I got word back from Dan at Pruven and he was very cooperative and nice

It looks like I'm going to Pruven saturday since that's where I got my cams installed and he's going to take a look at everything for free!... sigh of relief because I'm broke.

Honestly I was thinking about swapping my intake cam for a 264 but... I think I rather stick with straight 272's because that's what I always wanted, once I heard people having 272's daily driving no problems I immediately had a passion of getting 272's for myself because I love drag... ofcourse everything went wrong.. but it makes me have good hope is Pruven fixing my problem.

He also told me my Greddy RS bov could be causing stalling issues with cams even recirculated... I'm not sure but I had my ECU flashed the sameday I installed cams. It makes a little sense because my greddy sounds like crap and flutters like crazy.

At this point I hate BOV's... I might go with APS this time if the problem does turn out to be the BOV.

I'm glad you guys are interested... I thought you guys forgot about it and moved on to better things but I will definately keep you posted!!

I need to hurry and get this done tho... Saturday we had alot of snow.. this is going to be a baddd winter I can foresee it, I have michelin pilots from my dealer that closed down and had a really fun winter last year. I hope my new and "improved" Evo does well this year.
