Do I really need the clear camgear cover??

I am putting a shopping list of stuff together for my EVO. I am getting some camgears and some HKS 280's. I dont know if the Zaklee clear cover would be necessary?

Anyhow I dont care about the bling, and would rather have a stock looking motor...

your thoughts please!!!

you dont need a clear one, but you do need a cover unless you want to risk foreign debris getting caught in the belt, possibly causing major damage to the valvetrain, pistons, etc...

Yeah, I did the same thing with my Integra, actually no, I did ride around w/o a cover for a long time but thats just risking it.

Forget it...I'll keep the stock cover and save me $100 or so towards mods that make power. Thanks.

Well, all though the clear cam gear cover is not needed, it is a very nice piece to have if you want to show off what you have. We have this peice on our black drag evo and the fitment is perfect. I would recomend one if you want a little bit of show with your go.

Buy dremel and shave off the ribbing on the back of the factory cam gear cover so it fits. That's what I did. If you don't it will rub and make a hellacious noise. I wouldn't run without one.

No cam gears or clear cover

Go with just those huge 280 cams

you dont need it but it does look bad ***.

And why ar e you using cam gears, I wouldnt. But if you do the clear cam gear helps to make sure the bolts are where they are supposed to be...

Yeah, I'm gonna pick up my 280's this afternoon. I'm gonna go with the Buschur method and use the stock gears and the stock camgear cover....

No need to be showy here, just wanna make power...

One doesn't need cam gears. However, he can pick up a fair amount of power with them if he knows how to use them and has the ability to tune accordingly.

You have the ability to make a lot more power with the 280's and gears. Dont let people who dont know what they're talking about talk you out of it.

I'm going with 280s and I plan on running some gears for that extra power and more control

i dont know why people bash cam gears so bad. Have you ever heard of the bolts loosening? coming off, breaking? I haven't, I would get them stricly for the ability to have a better idle. To me, its worth it, but its not worth it to everybody.
