I need help on clutch purchase

I found the ACT street disc and the RPS Max for around $520 shipped. My clutch is going out and I need to buy one soon. (After this weekend cause everyone is in SEMA) Along with the clutch im getting the Fridanza flywheel. ( tO put it all in at once). Which will be the best set up with the flywheel. Also what is a good price for labor for this installation? Thank You!!!

Mike

Do the ACT HDSS+Fidanza combo for $720 from NoLimitMotorsports (username NoLimitMotors). Installation will be very expensive...

Here is a recent poll on clutch choice:

I just got back from SEMA and playing catch up. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about clutches or ACT (dstarksen@advancedclutch.com).

Can someone please tell me for what the hell is wrong with the stock clutch if you are under 400 WHP? No one even considers an oem replacement. Mine is 23K old with many hard (6500rpm) launches and it is still holding my 370 whp. Never missed a shift because of the clutch. I love the stock clutch. I really believe that most people who complain about the stock clutch just dont know how to drive a manual transmission very well.

other than the fact that the stock clutch locks you out over 7k, at least mine does, i hate it, and will probably spend much more than i want to when i want to get a clutch for this reason. Im not going to take a chance with ACT and the lockout issues people are having, and the fact that ive read they eat synchros too. proably have to go with exedy, sucks that the price is so damn high.

save your money and buy the exedy twin disk. You get what you pay for.

Not rumors when it happens, Friend had act couldn't shift above 6,000 in 1st or 2nd 6,500 in third, forth was fine. Took apart twice to check for any thing wrong. Got fed up and stepped up, bought Exedy twin. Installed by me, same on the ACT, shifts at 8,000 now, all gears.

Almost 60k on the stocker (knock on wood) but I like it to. I just need the clutch to hold out a couple of more months till I'm ready for my tranny refresh.

Too late now to know for sure, but that sounds like a classic adjustment problem, not a clutch problem. There are a few other causes but they are not very common. There are many threads on the subject so I don't want to rehash too much. Clutches are pretty simple and there is nothing to cause lockout unless it is not releasing completely. Some theorize inertia of the disc is the problem but the facts suggest otherwise since the symptoms are inconsistent. There are scores of ACT customers that don't have lockout problems.

That is a new one. Never heard of the stock clutch locking you out. In fact it shifts much better than any sub $1000 replacment ot there. Warrtalon??? Where are you when I need you?
