That is a new one. Never heard of the stock clutch locking you out. In fact it shifts much better than any sub $1000 replacment ot there. Warrtalon??? Where are you when I need you?
never heard of that? do a search, youll find out how many people get locked out. Im not saying ACT is a bad clutch, but like ACT man said, lockout is intermittent, I wont take that chance spending money only to find that maybe my car doesnt like ACT. Hell, if i had a no lockout guarantee, ACT would positively be my choice.

I really believe that most people who complain about the stock clutch just dont know how to drive a manual transmission very well.
Problem is that it would not hold my Mustang Dyno verified 333whp and 317lbs ft of torque with an old man driving. Not drag racing, or launching as that's not my bag anymore. I'm talking about an already engaged roll on. Where at my 4000rpm torque peak, it was starting to notably slip. This was well after 20k (I've actually forgotten when I replaced it). So just because you "have a good one", doesn't mean that it will work for everyone. I think if we have learned anything about the US Mitsubishi Evolution, it's that they are anything but consistent one to the next.

With that out of the way, I'm thinking of dropping the $1700 on the entry level twin disc Tilton. Esp since it gets rid of the Mitsu/Exedy throwout bearing/connecting clip. Seems like a viable option to me anyway as I'm no longer interested in the relatively high engagement points required with the OE-ish singles to get the proper range of operation. I'm not bashing the singles (some work great!), I just have found the engagement points for optimum engagement to be unacceptable to my personal tastes.

I started dissassebling my car to prepare for clutch and flywheel entry. I am taking some pics. If you want to see. Let me Know. Yhis is my 2nd time installing a clutch (INTEGRA GSR was 1st). This is my 1st time on AWD. Pray 4 me.

I think most shops will charge you $600.00 for a clutch installation.. shops that have done them on Evo's before could probably get this work done in a day.

I got it quoted before and my local shop uses some web based thing that tells him the average price you should charge for a job. They are very good.

I don't see anything wrong the ACT clutches, I think alignment has a big part on the lock out problems... yes my stock clutch is holding strong but I get that 7k + lock out issue with it, when I let the rpms drop then I can shift fine... it's not fun..

Also I'm starting to get a 5th gear grind at 17k miles.. I wonder if a new clutch will fix that... Well I'm going to different synchro fluid soon..

Wartalon thought something was wrong with his clutch but after he fixed the alignment it was fine.. was it not?
