What kind of work did the shop do and how much did they charge you? Want to get an idea what the cost is and how much work was put in.

Thanks

We charge $1500 labor to pull the old engine out, tear it down, put it back together and re-install it all. Other charged you are going to run into are:

Timing belt and tensioner

Gasket kit

Anti-freeze, oil, oil filter, gear lube etc.

Does that include any machin work needed to clearence the block for the stroker kit? I was thinking it was much more expensive than this or I would have one already! Guess where my tax return is gona go Dave

I was charged about $1500 by Tuning Technologies for labor. The machine work also cost me about $1000: valve job, clearances, .020 over, balanced crank, gapped rings, decked block, and hanging pistons on the rods... Plus gaskets, fluids, etc. So, about $3000 for labor, machining, and all the little parts that went with it.

Yes, $5000 if you include the stroker kit.

You got ripped off. I see you wrote "hanging pistons on the rods" WTF does that mean? They only installed the pistons on the rods and thats it? Did they not assembled the motor? Buschur just wrote $1500 installed, done, out the door. Of course there is litle BS like Tbelt tensioner and fluids, but it looks like you overpaid by double, unless the machinist just totally screwed you on the $$$ to do the valve job.

"good repairs aren't cheap, and cheap repairs aren't good"

bensons is definately not cheap.

the only way you can relaly skimp on this sort of stuff is by doing it yourself... and you better be sure you know what you're doing otherwise...

"people never have enough money to do it right the first time, but the always have money to do it a second time"

just some notable quotes i picked up from being in the automotive industry for the past 9 years.

If you have a garage and a beater car, then DIY?

Also, you're in Taiwan, labor cost might probably be different?

This is why the internet is so wonderful. People have little to no information and go off half-cocked. Do you really think anyone woulod pay $1500 just to have someone put the pistons on the rods? Of course they put the engine together. Geez.
