EVO understeer
EVO understeer
Anyone have a cheap way to get the evo to not understeer so bad? It really pushes on tight corners.
I am looking for hopfully some EVO7 drivers or some people already out racing to respond.
Thanks,
-Zach

Hi,
Get a good alignment. -2 degrees front -1 degree rear. 1 or 2 mm total toe out front will help turn-in. 0 toe rear. If you are running a DOT race tire, a little less hot pressure up front will give you more bite. Next step, front LSD.
Cheers,

Thanks WTZ.
How bad does that effect tire wear? should i switch it back for street driving or are the effects minimal.. (I don't care about a few less miles)..
Thanks,

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
It will wear out the inside edges of your front tires with normal street driving. Get together with your alignment shop and develop 2 settings for street and race. If they are nice, they will show you how to go from one to the other. It's not difficult but may not be perfectly precise.

First chech the tyre pressures, for the evo vi they are 2.2bars front and 1.9bars rear.
Then check your geometry settings. You should be able to put 2.0 negative camber on the front even with standard shocks.
For better results, you will have to fit a front cusco or ralliart lsd, better tyres like yokohama a032r, and better suspensions.

The car is still 100% stock..
The car is completely controlable.. But i just don't like so much understeer.
I will be trying the alignment probably this weekend.. Assuming i can find a place that will let me mark the settings..
I had one idea.. I could mark the settings now, take it to a shop have them change it to -2 in front & -1 in the rear. Then i could mark that.. and i would have my 2 marks..
