fuel pump going out because I never fill the tank FULL?!
always a good idea to keep a 1/4 tank of fuel in there the sound you are hearing is normal for the walboro the only way to quiet it down is to go with another company but i would stick with walboro because they stand by their product.
The biggest reason more people dont notice the noise the pump makes is because of our dual circuit wiring for the pump. On DSM's most people hardwire thier pump to get the most voltage to it at all times. Our car was designed well so it only gives it full juice when it needs it... therefore, at idle when you could hear it... it wont be nearly as noise as if it had full juice. The reason it gets louder when the tank is low is because the noise can resonate much easier in the air as we know the liquid will travel bass much better then treble. The other reason is the metal can actually vibrate much more with less fuel.
The pump could not get hurt by running low levels of fuel assuming the fuel is never starved from the pump, that could kill it.
