alky kit install: pics and a question

I'm in the middle of installing my Dynoflash/Buschur alky kit and thought I'd share what I think is a good way to run the wiring to the inside the car. The kit comes with a very long white cord containing 4 wires that the instructions say to run from the pump harness on the IC spray tank all the way around the motor to the passenger side of firewall, though the grommet behind the glove box and back around to the drivers side under the dash. The write-up that's stickied on the Dynoflash forum suggests drilling a hole in the firewall and running a wire up behind the instrument panel.

I already have a vacuum line going through that grommet on the passenger side; I hate to run a wire that long in such a round about way; and I avoid drilling as much as possible. So, I decided to run mine under the drivers front wheel splash guard and through the grommet that's behind there. This is also where I run my harness for my EBC. The wire pops out under the dash right in the right spot. Everything is nice and hidden, no drilling and the wires are much shorter. Probably a pound of wire saved! Anyhow, here are some pics to show what I mean on the wire routing.

I forgot my question! I'm going to install a switch on the kit. Should I interrupt the power wire or the ground wire. (I think the power wire, but just want to double check).

Also, is that a good place to hook up the ground wire? (see second pic).

Thanks!

ground looks good, just take a meter, hold it to that ground (or any other ground) and take the other lead to the battery and so long as you have 12 volts (when the car is off) its a good ground..

About the switch, you will want o interept the 12volt source. The kit comes with a wire soldered onto a fuse which corresponds with the windshield washers. It will depend on what type of switch you get but this is the most common approach..

Run the 12 volts line (red) coming from the control module to the switch. Run power from you desired power source to the other side of the switch. (run ground to the switch as well, this is only needed if it has a led/light)

When you flip the switch, it will cut power to the unit.

Mine is wired up the same as yours thru the wheel well. My alky kit came with stainless steel hose instead of the black one you have pictured. Also the wire that connects to the controller are black and yours are white...interesting how these kits upgrade so quickly. BTW I hooked up my power switch to the red fused wire that goes into the wiper fuse hole.

Derek888, my hose is a stainless braided hose. I just wanted it to look more stealth so I bought 5 feet of 3/8" ID fuel line and slid it over the stainless line.

also, why would you want to hook up a switch? You WANT it to come on when you are under boost, and it isn't on anyway when not under boost.............u dont like the little light?

There are going to be times when I wouldn't want the kit on -- autocross, for example.

A switch is used to turn the power off on the alcohol injection just incase the system starts acting up or working inproperly...

Its simply a type of failsafe, I highly recomend it

I can see the purpose for the autocross. I was assuming that you would be using a custom dynoflash, or some type of reflash of the stock ecu. I see now that you are using a UTEC.
