272/280 cams
i just sold a 272/280 set to a guy who was tuned by AL and made really good power. We opted to go with that set when we spoke with him because he wanted good power but didnt want to sacrifice Idle quality as much as the 280's do. you'll still have a lopey idle but most likely wont stall
I really think that the 280/280 setup is for those who are having bigger turbo. Straight 272/272 is good enough, all top end. But if you want to have a little of both... go with the 264/272 setup
well i am planning on going with a evo9-20G tme from buschur, so i guess i am gonna go with the 272/280 combo.
hey nolimitmotors, do you have any more info on the car that is using this combo. i.e. mods, and dyno charts?

ask around first before getting it... just an advise

cam choice depends on your plans. Are you going to stay with your stock turbo? Are you going to road race? Are you going to drag race? Are you going to use your car as a daily driver? What type of boost do you plan to run? Does idle quality matter? Do you like mid-range torque or high end hp? I'm sure there are other questions, but you'll need to have a good understanding of what you are looking for, before making cam choices. Various cam durations will always be a compromise in performance, whether it's low end torque vs. high end hp, but it'll be a compromise. So my suggestion would be to decide what you want to do with the car, what level of mods you plan on doing, and then decide on cams. If you answer the questions posed in this post, it'll help some of the people with cam experience offer assistance.
I have 264's with a 6.5 TME (basically a stock turbo), idle quality is important to me, and I don't like lope. My car is a daily driver, doesn't see a trace but maybe once a year, and I average about 18,000 miles per year. I love the twisties so response was important to me, and any shannanigans with "other" cars is usually from a roll instead of a dead stop, so again response was important to me. Hence the 264 choice for my taste. Just depends on what you're looking for, so if you could be a bit more specific, I think you'll get more than enough responses.
And yes, a 272/280 combo will work.

just got 280s straight and get it tuned... cams = higher degree more airflow...more power...obvisouly 280s give you the most power...but the idle may be a little too much for the hyper sensitive evo owners out there... i've heard an evo with 280's straight idle and it's not that bad....doesn't stall out...and has top end for days... i'm doing 280's straight...
