First problem with the car, it stays stuck in gear....

So after 20k trouble free miles, my car decided to finally pull some **** on me. Today while driving home from Alabama to Georgia I decided to get on it from a stop light. Well, I hit second gear like always and rev'ed her on out to 7500rpms and then pushed the clutch in to coast along at that speed. Well, my rpms stuck up there and slowly began to drop as if I hadn't even pushed the clutch. I then pulled the car out of gear....however, when I pulled it out of gear, there was force against my shifter, as if the clutch was still partially engaged. Once I got the shifter back into neutral, the revs dropped like always. I had gotten on it couple times earlier in the drive with no ill effects at all. Matter of fact, I have no idea why it started doing this. I haven't botched any shifts or done anything out of the ordinary, its just like the car decided to break on itself. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking the throwout bearing could be F'ed somehow as I have heard a few problems of that. Anways, I got to the house and went to test the car. I rev'ed her to 7k in first and the went to neutral.....no problems. Decided to rev her higher to see if that had an effect, so I put it in second gear and rev'ed her to 7.6k rpms and shifted into neutral.....again no problem. Then I decided to do a first to second gear run. Ran her through first and shifted into second w/ no problems. Rev'ed second on out to 7.5k rpms and then went to go to neutral and got the same crap that I described earlier, the clutched seemed still partially engaged. Gonna drop it by Mitsu to see if they can warranty it whatever may be the problem and if not, then Topspeed will be getting a call as well as TRE if the tranny is the problem. If anyone has any ideas, please post up so I can throw some more ideas at the mechanic when I take him for a ride.

Edit: Oh yea, I have absolutely no problems while doing ordinary driving. When shifting below 7k rpms there doesn't seem to be a problem at all. On top of that, all of my shifts were very slow to ensure that I wasn't jamming myself into a gear.

Let me know what the dealership says. You can never tell with them these days. Give us a call when you get any updates.

it sounds like you need to adjust your clutch. Your clutch is not realeasing all the way above 7k because of the mass of the pressure plate, etc...I'm not a clutch expert but I've read enough about them on this forum to know what this sounds like. I dont think the dealer will warranty this. One, because they will say you shouldn't be revving that high anyways, 2 because it is a wearable item. Look for the clutch adjustment's on this forum. I have the same problem so I just don't go over 7k anymore on this stock clutch. Im going to adjust it soon and see if it takes care of the problem.

Anyone know what caused the OP's problem? I have a similar issue. Its happened to me twice already where I race the car above 4k rpm in third gear (not sure if both times were in 3rd gear) and when I pressed the clutch pedal in and put the car in neutral, the rpms stayed stuck at 4k and were lowering very slowly as if I was still in gear. Then I pushed the clutch pedal in again and then the rpms dropped normally. Any theories???
