So earlier today I was merging form one freeway to another and had to downshift from 5th to 4th, went to neutral and then as I was putting it in 4th and step off the clutch and on to the gas, I loose acceleration in the gas pedal, and the oil, battery and e-brake lights all came on for a brief maybe 2 seconds and then everything went back to normal, gas pedal working, lights went off. This is the 2nd time it's happend, and only when going from 5th to 4th. My Evo does have a slight 4th and 5th gear grind and I don't like downshifting between the 2 gears if I can help it because that's when the grind is the worst. Is almost like when the Rpms dropped to 2500 it was ok. Also no my e-brake was not on at all. She has oil, the battery is fine. I am planning on getting the tranny rebuilt sometime this year and getting her tuned in the next month or so. Any ideas?

ignition switch bad?

 

Could also be the tune.., throttle slams closed, runs real rich and dies.

It could also be an issue related to iac, but not likely.

I think your right about it needing a tune. It doesn't have a rough idle or anything that I would also associate with an Iac. And it does fine like she is running a little rich. I was already planning on taking her to English racing or speed factory in the next month.
