So last night at the drag strip i was on my final run, when all of a sudden i hit fuel cut. so i pull around i pop my hood. Low and behold there was coolant everywhere. after searching around i found the freeze plug on the water pump popped out. do you think i need a whole new water pump? or just to replace the freeze plug? thanks in advance for the help and happy thnksgiving! 2 Freinds of mine had there plugs leak, one had the dealer replace it...and the other didnt bother tring...the dealer should replace it...give it a try... the dealer replaced the timing belt free as well...and both cars were obviosly modified...but then again, every dealer is different ...

So you didnt replace the entire water pump? just replacing the plug will work? because the plug is a cheap part and i would not have to mess with the dealer.

What did you determine as the cause?

I'm unsure but I believe I hit fuel cut also and it happened... I was on the car then in 4th gear heard a super loud pop, pulled over, popped the hood and there was the big hole in the back of the water pump where the freeze plug had popped out..

I'd like to know what caused it myself though and hopefully the new plug will stay in there fine...
