A lot of times the n00bs are still going to have questions after a search, and some times the search results are so old, you can't help but to think if there's updated information that was missed. Who knows.. they may bring something new to the table if they do ask their questions.

I dont think most people understand what type of thing I am asking about banning. Its NOT new members or 'newbies'. I am asking to ban specifically the posts that people have stockish type cars and want to know what they need to do to get 350 or 400 or 450, etc.. HP. If the info on the old threads is outdated they could post a reply on one of the outdated threads. Why make a new thread at all? When people search, it will show threads. They can read the threads and if they find info that isnt on there they could post a question on the same thread. That will bring the old thread back alive for people to discuss again.

Meh, if I see an old 8 page thread pop up that I think I've read before, I won't even bother reading it again.. but that's just me.

Would it be possible to have a very visible link on this forum to a "20 Most Frequently Asked Questions"?

This would take some work and some questions/answers would have to be updated, but it should drastically cut down on the: Which tires, how much hp, what BOV questions.

That is a great idea! Make a few sticky threads that have all the info that gets reposted all the time.

I'm not sure exactly what that means (LOL) but as long as they can get to that info by clicking on a link on the homepage and picking a question to click on that would work.

I personally think that all new users should be required to complete an interactive tutorial that forces them to learn the rules and best practices before using the forum.

This will serve a two-fold purpose to discourage those who want only to waste threads without thinking and also give the newbies some experience before they come in.

It would be relatively easy to develop. Will it ever be done? No...because most people would rather gripe endlessly than make a real effort do something to help the situation. If I were a developer, I would be happy to write it...

Man, in my opinion....just leave them be. If we actually put a ban on every question people asked that could be easily searched for...it would esentially shut the forum down. Along with it you'd ban every blow off thread, every exhaust thread, every intake thread...all of these new topics that pop up on a daily basis.

If you don't like them, dont read them, and dont respond in them. Some people just dont search...it's a fact. If you really wanna do something about it, just dont respond, and get everybody else to not respond...esentially forcing them to search. Otherwise...its like the United States trying to make cigarettes illegal because they are bad, and second hand smoke annoys people. Itd be nearly impossible to enforce. just my $.02

There are a few forums that due enforce policies well and you wont read repatitive posts. Take NABR for example... I dont really see too many posts on "How to make 500hp". On top of that, if it was a little 'cleaner' like over there, maybe some of the elite would post here sometimes.

Yes...and if you use this strategy along with implementing my suggestion above, then the forum would likely clean up fairly quickly...

I propose any "Evo Vs. x " threads because the evo always wins here overall and it's pointless debating about another car against a evo enthusiast. Unless it's a future /past evo.

this is why i said we should just have an advanced turbo/drivetrain section because if we start banning this type of post and that type of post then some people are going to be upset. AND NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO READ THROUGH 15 PAGES OF RULES BEFORE POSTING EITHER.

some people may want to ask that question and they can just see another thread that has the same info.
