Ok I got an answer from the guys at Ecutek who write the code.
You can infact do it exactly as I outlined, therefore you can get a spare ecu for your car. Flash it leave the original stock, and be able to flip between the two without touching the immobilizer.
An iveytune.com first.

The other implication of this is that someone with a spare ecu could have it ecutek flashed and sell the ecu and license to someone else, therefore recouping the original investment. this is not possible without using the Ecutek Flash. It may be wise for people to start doing it this way so if you ever want to sell the mod you can and it can be easily recoded for the new owner by Iveytune.com using Ecutek technology. Just another option for the evo community.
I tell you buying the Ecutek powered flashes is like buying hardware.

The cost effective way to do what you are trying to do is purchase someones imobilizer ecu who went stand alone as it servers no other purpose once you go stand alone, mine cost me $30.00 shipped from another member on here that had a totaled evo that he was parting out. They cost like $178.00 new from mitsu.
I believe what SEAN I is refering to is he has 2 ecus working in his car,his stocker and his EMS which does not need nor use the imobilizer, and is COSTLY
Maybe no one read what I had posted, the key word",EASILY,Cost effective".Like SEAN has eluded to,ECUtech only,no other flashes offer it,hence there is no other way to do this except to a) buy the ecutech flash and associated liscense($650.00),or b) buy the imobilizer ecu, even from mitsu it is $178.00 or from someone on here for $30-$50.I know which way I would go and DiD.
The point being, short of ECUTECH flash there is NO other way of doing this, nor have I seen anyone that has had it done, anyone?anyone?
Now,I don't want this to be taken the wrong way but if that is true, which I am quite sure that it is because SEAN I being a vendor for ECUTEK,that is what would make that flash leaps and bounds above the rest.Who else(vendor wise) does the ECUTEK flash,I can only think of 1 other vendor on here and that would be great news.Has anyone had it done yet,I am sure that it could be possible, with the right equipment(flash hardware and ecutek software),but has it been confirmed that it is possible?

Ok, so let me see if I get this cause I'm a bit confused from all these posts.

Can I just swap my ecus in and out at any time.... or must I have the ecuteck flash?

By the way, not sure if my model has the immobilizer. I have an evo 7.

UPDATE

Just to let everyone know. I swapped out my ecu for another original and it was smooth with no problems. No reprogramming was required at all. Just pluged one out and the other in then started and went for a drive.

Thanks for all the feedback.
