Only picked up @6hp with...

An HKS 65mm DP and Helix Hi flow. I was kind of hoping for more. My previous dyno session was with a Reflash, K&N panel filter, and a cat back. It pulled around 252 hp which was good considering on this dyno it baselined with a catback at 219. I've since added the DP and Cat and picked up around 6hp.

The damn tach signal kept breaking up so I don't have any good torque numbers to see how much if any I picked up on the bottom. It looks like it spools a little faster and the torque would be better then the tach signal drops out right when it starts to pull above the old graph. It did take out a big dip from 5300 to 6200.

It was only about 25 degrees when we did this last dyno session. Which is why I was expecting more. Is there such a thing as it being too cold to dyno? I always thought cold air makes power. I did also close my spark plug gap to .026 from .030 to avoid some misfiring during the summer. I know that will cost some power but, I would think the difference in temp would kind of equal that out.

Did you get it reflashed after the down pipe and test pipe were installed?

According to dynoflash website you dont need a reflash for exhaust components, just intake, cams, fuel pump, etc etc...

Replace the Helix Hi flow Cat with a Test Pipe and you should pick up another 5-10 hp.

When I spoke to Vishnu ( they did my original flash) they said I did not need a reflash for the DP. I'm not sure about the Cat. The A/F looked good @ 11.2 -11.0 up top. Pretty lean before boost around 14.0 until 2500 RPM and then starts getting fat. I'm thinking about a custom tune if I can ever get down to Atlanta.

I know this isn't in the Vishnu forum but, any tuners care to weigh in on this? My A/F's are right about where you would want them. So, a reflash after adding a cat:

Is it necessary?

Will make more power how? Being more aggressive with the timing than before is about the only thing I can think of.

Is 6 hp about the normal gain for what I have and all those "other numbers" you see are just cherry picked worst baseline Vs. best after numbers?

We might need the Truth Squad in here!

TRUTH SQUAD ASSEMBLE!!!

i was always under the impression that u did need a reflash after a dp and hfc. but i guess not because u dont if u get an exhaust. we will just have to wait for Al from dynoflash, or someone from turbotrix or something to help clarify for us!

I'm well aware of what 65mm is and it should still be sufficient for my power level.

First of all, I don't know why anyone does a flash anymore... I fell into that trap, and was so limited with upgrade tuning, but I'll shut up.

I had a P2 flash, and while it didn't need an update for every single mod I added, it was always a good idea to unplug the battery with each addition. Leave it for about 10min, then reattach, restart the car, and let it idle for like 5min to 'relearn', and a lot of times you pick up hp.
Hey, it's an easy thing to try!
