Works new catalytic converter, thoughts?

Actually I am not sure how new it is as I just visited Works website in a while. In fact the product itself isn't "new". What they do is they take a stock catalytic converter, remove the stock flanges and piping, and replace with stainless steel 3" piping and flanges. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am open to thoughts on how this would affect performance. I have actually had this in the back of my mind. "What if we just take the stock cat and make it 3" So it is a 3" stocker. This would be great for those looking for a 3" cat that won't throw a CEL. If you are like me and worry about other 3" cats throwing CEL's, this is the solution. I would think this would give a power increase over the original cat as one cam run a full 3" cat and 3" downpipe without necking down, resulting in a better constant flow.

They are pretty much all the same. They all have the same use one might let out more then the other.

I rather have the test pipe and when its time take it in swap it out and out the stock cat back in. Beleave me you want a test pipe, cuz later down the road your going to be disspointed that your car only dynoed XXX amount of H/P.

I'd rather get the other one. Since it is OEM it won't put out a CEL, and that's guaranteed.

A test pipe has crossed my mind. But 3 things prevent me from going that route.

1. I hate the excess smoke and smell that comes out the tail end.

2. The very slim chance a police officer looks under my car.

3. I will be polluting an already polluted atmosphere. I will become the very person I don't want to be. Ruining the environment for when we get older.

Some high flow cats are definitely better than others. I swapped in my current Random Tech from a Catco and there was a noticeable difference in boost and spool-up. As far as swapping a cat it in for the emissions test, I think it makes more sense to have the cat on normally on the street (legality, environment, etc.) and then swap in a test pipe for the dyno, track, etc.

Yet more reason why I don't go test pipe. Mine is a street car. I never go to the track, and running a test pipe on the dyno would be no use to me. As it wouldn't tell me power I am running on the street.

Cool

Before I bought this one, I did a search on High flow Cats and read nearly every thread on them...and Works cats was the only one (whether its the 3'' gutted oem or 3'' Hi flow) that did not through a CEL.

You can make a test pipe not throw a cell with $5 worth of parts from any auto store. It'd work just as well with any of the high flow cats. I'd really be interested in the "U.S" high performance cats vs. the JDM high performance cats from places like Apexi and Mine's. Anyone willing to shell out $600 for a test?

There are some people in the UK selling the 100 cell cats... I'd like to have those! I think Random/Catco are 200 cell units... then again, I'm tired and have even more grey hair lately.
