As far as fit - mine fit perfectly. Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by fit - the only place I have personally seen cam gears slip is at the bolts.
The AEM gears you've seen slip - were they on Evos? To be honest I have never heard of the AEM 5 bolt slipping on an EVO. I have 6 buddies running AEM gears on their EVOs with no problems to date.
Again, I can only speak about my experience with my car and the people I know with similar equipment.
