Even these "dual" port BOV's are bleh .. Think about it ... Some of the air that is still metered by the MAF gets shot out =P

Sorry but you thought wrong. It goes against the principle operation of the MAF.
Im not really against the sound. I like it if it's done correctly without messing with the drivability of the car.

Acutally the 05's don't bog and jerk like the 03-04's you can VTA and retain stock like drivability, but it will hurt performance at WOT shifting because of the Rich Condition it causes between shifts.

get a bov that can do both, i have the agency power adjustable bov, it works great both ways. i tried the vta for a few days, but after finding out that it causes damage and what not. i decided to recirculate. the hksssq is really only good for older dsms and hondas the evo isnt meant to use that bov.

The air pressure your venting out is supposed to be monitored. Ecu will think your WOT while your TBody is closed.

the hks does come with a recirc kit if you order it, its a nice valve.... it also comes with an intake plug for that hole, but if you recirc you wont need it

So many opinionated statements and wrong information always beeing tossed around in the infinite BoV-related threads...

Besides, the person who started the thread asked a perfectly good question and everyone took it upon themselves to go on their own tangent of ranting about other crap.

Honestly, I believe any general auto parts store will sell plugs of all sizes that you can use to plug up whatever size hole your intake has for its recirc port.

yeah, ur right he did ask a question that most people didn't answer, but the reason is, it's really not a very good idea and we are just letting him know that, it's easy not to realize the way this particular car is setup and we are just passing on what WE'VE learned, which is pretty much the whole point of a "forum"...anyway, I posted this in anotehr thread....take it with a grain of salt:

However, REGARDLESS of year, your car will run rich, however small. Some cars show it more than others for various reasons, but it WILL run rich. The way the Evo is designed from the factory is, it measures that air and applies fuel accordingly. When you VTA, you are dumping air that has already been metered and the fuel is still being applied as measured, hence, a rich fuel condition. That is why some cars stumble at idle, because the mixture cannot ignite correctly under too rich a condition with not alot of air intake. Like I said, in some cars, this is more noticeable, but every Evo will be effected one way or another. If you don't believe me, run VTA for a while, then check ur plugs, they'll probably have a lot of carbon buildup. There are ways around this but that usually involves swithng to MAP instead of the Evo MAF. VTA just gives you that great sound. If ur lokin for somethin that performs well, check out www.dejonpowerhouse.com They run some highly modded 1G BOVs. I have this kit and it cost cheaper than aftermarket and, in my belief, outperforms them. Of course, I don't care baout that sound. I love the low-key look and sound I have (which a 1G BOV gives you)...

Anyway, my $.02

No one knows his setup so how can you judge whether or not its a good idea?

Because the simple fact remains....VTA makes the engine run rich...period...it's just a fact, like gravity..there's nothing you can do about it, well, that's not entirely true...you can CONVERT to MAP or something similar, which I stated. I wasn't knockin him for what he wanted, I think we are all just INFORMING him, based on what little information WE have regarding his setup, that it isn't really a great idea. So yes, in a manner of speaking, your right, none of us TRULY know what his setup is, but it all goes back to what the rest of us are trying to do here...INFORM. Maybe he knows, maybe he doesn't but we are just tryin to be helpful and he can take it like he wants to. He can get all defensive, like you are, or he can just say take it for what it is...advice...we're givin the guy OPTIONS...

Anyway, like I said, if he wants that cool WHOOSH sound..go for it, it ain't my car, I don't have to drive it and I don't have to deal with it...MOST folks I talk to that have a loud BOV end up gettin annoyed by it, not all, but MOST. It sounds great at first, but then everytime you shift...WHOOSH...every single time...I can see how it may get annoying after a while. I'm just givin my 2 cents worth...

Let's just move on, this horse has been beatin into the ground so far, it's half buried...
