Turbo Information
Turbo Information
Where can I find some information regarding how turbos, bov, and wastegates function? Also the dynamics and specifics of the EVO 9 engine? I'd like to learn as much as I can before I start the modification process.
Thanks!
Thanks!

as far as the evo9 4g63 you don't have to really worry about the specifics becasue there aren't any cams available for it yet. just know that the more Oxygen you have the more fuel you'll have to add to keep it form melting.

Thanks for the link.
Good refresher course, but I already know most of the basics. I guess I'm looking for information regarding the "twin-scroll" design and it's benefits. How a wastegate and BOV are used to control boost vs. a boost controller.

WG opens via actuator via mbc and exhaust bypasses turbo blades (unboost) and built pressure is deverted back into the intake/maf side when TB closes (vac actuated BOV).
WG closes from not enough psi to overcome mbc spring, exhaust spins turbine which spins a fan that compresses air (boost).
To basically stay at say 20psi the WG is cracked open just enough from metered mbc air to build that psi. As demands, rpms, and ultimately boost changes, the system modulates to try to achieve that pressure.
With stock turbos, the WG more or less stays closed in first gear from not enough load to achieve psi relief. The stock boost control setup also is a bit more complicated as it tapers.

Twin scroll info is in the COrky Bell book.
