Do NOT attempt to fit an aftermarket MAF. Unless it has the same transfer function as Mitsu's MAF, it will NOT work.

If you don't want to buy a new one, perhaps someone who has converted to a standalone running speed density will sell you their used unit.

good luck, nothing out yet in the aftermarket world for different MAFs unless you can calibrate a GM or Cobra. Maybe you should look into the MAFTpro(deletes MAF)

Or you can use ECUplus and GM's 3" MAF. or even 3.5" ones.

ok after reading about how the stock MAF is restrictive over 350whp i will soon be over that so i have some options. sorry for the confussion but i have 0 MAF right now on a stock evo it was lost when i replaced my transmission and clutch and flyweel. so with that said

1 i can eather buy a stock MAF and be done untill i hit 350whp then cry

2 get a 85mm from gm but don't know or see a walk thru on how to do (i am not very machanicaly inclined) so all the help probably with pics would be nice

3 eleminate it completly and get this MAFTpro or will i run into problems later like the stock maf after 350whp and seeing how i would spend $400 on a stock MAF but it will be crap after 350whp and i hope to soon be over the 350whp mark

please help me i don't know what to do about this MAF problem i have

the stock maf is not restictive over 350 whp.....that is a FALSE statement It is restrictive over a certain Hz, which i don't know how converts to CFM, but i know that the stock Maf should be good to about 2500 Hz (which is a lot of airflow). That amount is good for about 25 psi from any turbo (maybe not the gt35 and up). I would not worry about maxing out the MAF unless you are going to make 600 bhp+

The only MAF problem you have is the fact that you don't have one and you need one. Buy the one listed above.

As for the 'restrictive after 350hp' notion, that is complete B.S.

The MAFTpro is a great unit, i almost sold my Utec for one, but i wanted to keep the stock MAF for now (until a Blow through setup comes along from Turbo XS). They will tell you what you want to hear so you buy there product.....

sweet i found a forum that was talking about the stock MAF 350whp will restrict your car and now that 2 people have said that is b.s. ,but when i read that i started to ask myself why buy a stock one if i can get around this problem now and save some money seeing how i need a MAF or a way around the MAF now since my dealer bobby ford in lake jackson loses parts when they service your car but that is another story a very long story on how my dealer is crap.

It won't restrict you from having an 11 second car with stock turbo. Even if you were going to spend some $$ for an aftermarket ECU, you'd wouldn't be doing it primarily to 'lose the MAF'.

I'm still pondering it . . .
