Megan and AMS exhaust question
Megan and AMS exhaust question
I know this exhuast has been beaten to death but i have yet to find an anser to this question. I will be running an full turbo back with a resonated test pipe, would swaping out the megan muffler with the ams muffler result in about the same sound as they are both canister style, and second, for the people that have head the megan and amd exhaust, do they both sound the same cuz from the 2 sound clips i have found, the ams sound deeper and more full bodied than the megan. (Remember, i don't care about cat back sound i car about turbo back sound)
This is kind of a goofy question. The muffler, will sound like a muffler? Does this make sense? As long as both piping are the same DIA. the sound of the exhaust will only be affected by the restriction it is passing through. So if you put a flowmaster in place of a dynomax, it will sound like a dynomax, same thing if you put a megan in place of a AMS, it will sound like a megan, but like I said, as long as the piping DIA is the same. different DIA will have different effects on sound.
As far as difference between the two, sounding different, all exhausts have a unique sound from their manufacturer. Why would you want to swap out mufflers anyways. If you want the megan sound, just go with that exhaust. If you want AMS sound, go with AMS.

Have you already confirmed that the two mufflers are actually physically interchangeable? I don't have personal experience with either, so I just wanted to throw that out there. Some exhausts, like the RMR one, aren't designed using the OEM part as a reference point. Anyhow, I tried to find info at the AMS website regarding this, but they don't seem to have any information about their products online. Megan Racing doesn't say anything about this on their website, either.
If you replace catback for catback, you should be fine.

The answer is yes. IT will sound like whatever catback you are using. The sound will change some though depending on if you use a cat, test pipe, or resonator. Using a different brand test pipe and downpipe won't keep it from sounding like an AMS exhaust...if you're using an AMS catback.
i wouldnt even use it if its megan racing. i have bought stuff from there and i regret it. all of there parts are just polished but the part is identical to stock. headers/turbo manifolds... no good. and all there exhaust are all the same. they just extend the pipes and fix the hangers for that specific car. none of there stuff is even tested and proven.
