Ported Throttlebody controversy

I just tooke off the Thottle body and got it measured.

Here are the results:

Intake side of TB is 65mm reducing to 62-63 mm on the out side.
Upper intercooling piping is 60mm.

Question? HOW would porting the Throttlebody increases flow if the Upper IC piping is only 60mm???? Does this mean the UICP need to be 65 mm to matche the manifold?

thanks

Alex

The 60mm diameter hole, throttle blade & shaft impose a restriction, which creates a pressure drop = pressure loss within the plenum. The larger 65mm tb creates less of a pressure drop. That is where your making the extra power.

On my evo, my boost increased about +0.1 ~ +0.15 bar more boost across the rev range within the plenum after installing my 65mm throttle body while matching the inlet up to the t.b..

Hope this helps you out.

btw, my oem tb has a 60mm inside diameter.

I noticed in your sig that you are selling a 65mm throttle body. Is this used or is this something you sell on a regular basis?
