new plugs went in today, this time i put the plugs and used my own tool and torqued it in there at 18ft lbs. car fired up and misfired a few times and then smoothed out. now the car is running great, just like it was before. the idle has even improved from what it was before. i use to get a little dip in idle and i now have a steady idle.

yea id say the problem was that the plug was over torqued, or the tool he used was cracking the porcelin
good news is the evo is back running better than ever..
bad news is that it cost me $80 for the 2 sets of plugs..
but if i would have bought through the dealer it would have cost me 160 for 2 sets, mitsu sells the plugs for 21 a piece

i would just buy the copper plugs, our cars are so abusive that no plug should be in it that long, buy the 1.50 ngk, and change them like underwear(every other oil change)

I "Look" as if I am tightening as much as possible as many ppl who have turned a few wrenches might as well. When tightening plugs, many ppl use the one or two finger method and tighten to "2 finger tight."
Also, if you have good feel, you can feel when the crush washer finally crushes.
Good it wasn't anything permanent!
