Again why did you remove the plugs in the first place. "I just took the turbo apart to see if was working properly."

doesn't even a dynoflashed car have a rev limiter? I would think about 7600RPM. How can you rev to 9000rpm's?

Kind of an ill-informed query for an Evolving Member. No electronic rev limiter will prevent a mechanical over-rev from occurring in a misplaced downshift.

Glad to hear you got everything worked out.

If something did drop into the chamber it would likely blow out the valve and get stuck in the hotside scroll or, if small enough, pass through and ruin the turbo or sit permanently in the IC.

You definatly need to bring this to the attention to the mechanic's boss that overtightend the plugs before he ruins somebodys car.

Update on this topic...

I pulled the plugs out of a IX with 4400 miles today to do a leakdown and compression test because it is dynoing very low for a IX. 3 of the 4 spark plugs were cracked just as described by diiirk. I have very expensive Matco/Mac/Snap-on tools so I doubt thats the problem. I threw a new set in it and we are going to put some miles on it to see if this problem replicates itsself.

did you have any warning signs before of the problems.

I got a ix from an viii and notice in the morning when the car warms up the idle stays at about 1k but sounds like it goes up then comes down then goes back up.

I dont remember my 8 doing this so who knows
