Where to install MBC now?

Well I have a Hallman MBC that was previously installed on the car when I got it. It was installed from the wastegate actuator to the MBC to the nipple on the top of my LICP, not sure if this was right way to do it but its what they did.

Now I'm installing my Buschur UICP, MAF pipe, and Deluxe FMIC w/LICP and am not sure where to hook the Hallman up to now. The new LICP doesn't have the nipple and by adding the UICP I lost the line running from the valve cover to the intake as it uses a breather filter instead. What do you guys recommend for the prefered install routing? I want to do the best install option even if it means more work. Thanks.

Put a nipple on the LICP if you can...

I was afraid someone would say that. So would that option give me the best spool-up and boost retention?

you should use the turbo as a source, then the other line to the wastegate....

He doesn't currently have a turbo source to use, since there is no nipple. My suggestion was to add a nipple, but he's wondering if there are any other suggestions.

Would you be able to add a nipple to Buschurs LICP? The nipple on the stock one is pretty tiny and the piping on the Buscher unit is pretty thick. Sorry I don't know alot about welding and fabrication.

another option is to tap a source as close to the throttle body as possible. That way any pressure drops between the turbo and the TB won't been seen by the MBC.

Uh, there isn't one on the turbo itself - it's on the outlet pipe that is the beginning of the LICP (when stock). His LICP replaced this outlet pipe, so he no longer has a "turbo nipple" like those of us with stock lower IC piping...

No problem. We don't put a nipple on the pipe as it isn't needed. Most guys have a manual controller mounted up higher in the engine bay and it is not ony shorter routing but a neater appearing install to just install a "t" in the line going to the BOV. That is your new boost source.

Thanks for clearing that Up Warrtalon, I am learning something new every day I guess. Anyways, I don't like using the T method to the BOV, it made my car buck really bad when I shifted, but once I moved it to the turbo nipple as a source, I couldn't be happier now!

Hey Dave, have you ever heard of someones car acting like dan628 described? I'm going to be running quite abit of boost when I get the alky so I don't want to damage anything. Thanks again for all the help.

I added one there because I have an EBC and didn't want to deviate from the recommended installation approach. Even with a MBC I would want it down there so that any boost leaks after the turbo would be reflected rather than being disguised by using a boost source further upstream.

Anyhow, it's easy to add the nipple. Just drill, tap and add a 1/8-/8 NPT nipple (I couldn't find one at the usual home improvement stores, so I ordered one on the internet). You can get the tap and drill bit at Sears. The thickness of the pipe makes it easier to add without getting leaks, not harder.
