that price is GREAT for the quality craftmanship and labor. IMO I would get it in a heart beat if I hadn't maxed out my credit cards already.

Considering it's not a core exchange it's a new head it's not that bad. If you could find someone to buy your old head.

a good friend of mine(John) here from Tucson that has $$$$$$$$$$ is building a supercar base on a WRX with a entirely racing engine from Cosworth.

John gave me a ride on his WRX about a month ago and let me tell you he is quick. I did not like the feeling of the dog box(straight gear cut), the car vibrates a lot and it feels like if if a dentist is gringing your teth with a dremmel tool, you can feel it everywehere

You might view his car here:

I would like to see some results from this. Just because it's Cosworth, it doesn't automatically make it great. Not bashing, but I would just like to see real world results.

On the other hand $3,800 is not too bad if you get a brand new head and all the valves, retainers and springs.

A P&P with all new valves, retainers and springs is about $2,000 grand.

If you got the Cosworth head AND sold your used head for about $1,200 it would be fairly close in price.

I can speak form experience (with the WC GT Volvos) and say that these guys know how to optimize and engine, you can bet it's not just a "hogged" out head but is a great combo of peak power and area under the curve. Also note the Inconel exhaust valves.

I would love also to see what the results are with this head, and while I agree that just because it's Cosworth doesn't mean it's instantly great. But there I would say that it is one manufacturer that I would be very surprised to see it selling a product that does not perform well - at least as well as any in the market.

Having said that, I am not an expert on cyl heads. What I've seen in the specs, it's looking good. I'm wondering however, that since it includes valve springs and retainers, whether they will soon come up with cams for the evo.

I can only say that the name Cosworth is a sign of top notch quality. They are not just a performance shop, they have cars built under their name. Full engines have been designed by them, not to mention their involvement in auto racing is huge, not just drag racing. The price is excellent since you get a new head and you get to keep your stock head.
