Big fuel system from Topspeed
Big fuel system from Topspeed
Wanted to let everyone know about a big fuel system option out there for (what i think) a reasonable price. Topspeed in GA just put a weldon A600 (new fancy hhp fuel pump), -8 feed lines, intank pickup, modified sending unit housing, fittings, and the fuel filter for 825 installed in my car. Now, i already had the fuel rail and regulator but you could probly buy those parts for not more than 350 i would think. That would still put your total at 1175 installed which i think is an awsome price when compared to a system like AMS has (1500$ just parts).
Plus, and this is just my opinion, i dont really see how two inline 255 pumps would flow enough fuel to feed a real hhp car. The inlet and outlet on those pumps is pretty small when compared to a fuel pump with -8AN in and out. Not to mention having to wire up a system to cut the second pump on under a load.
Anyways, check em out if your looking for a fuel upgrade and dont wanna spend 1500+ dollors. My car made over 700whp at 85psi fuel pressure and their shop car is makin like 765whp at over 85 psi with this fuel pump.

Maybe you should re-read what i wrote.
-Your math sucks. Your price of 901$ for JUST PARTS should have been compared to my price of $825 INSTALLED by topspeed, as these prices reflect the fuel system without fuel rail or regulator. I think id rather save 76$, have a warranty, and not get gas on my hands.
-I didnt know the price of a rail and regulator so i just guessed, but if we plug in the price you give of 180$ that brings the grand total to 1005$ installed for a complete fuel system.
-A-1000 aeromotive pump takes a serious flow dip as the pressure goes up. Not enough to make 800hp according to their flow sheet. Which by the way dosent even go up to 85psi. Youve gotta step up to the eliminator pump which is another 200$. Both those pumps are crazy loud (weldon is very quiet). I know this from experience because i had the a 1000 pump on a supercharged mustang and had to upgrade pumps because the a1000 wouldnt flow enough fuel at the 65psi i was running.
-I dont think most people with street evos want a fuel cell.
-You youself said you dont need -10 lines unless your making over 900hp, but if you had to have that size line i dont see it changing topspeeds price much.
You can aruge parts and a few dollors if you want, but they installed my system for a price close to your parts list price.

I was just playing with ya man
Dont get touchy. The A1000 will push our cars to 800hp just for your info. Not sure what flow charts your reading , Id be interested in seeing them. Ill go look for em, post em up if ya already know where they are.... Im pretty lazy
You also shouldnt need 85psi of fuel unless you are running over 43 psi of boost. That would equate most cars in the 800 range (Also where the pump would give out as well as the lines starting to become a restriction if running -8s). So, with these parts using -10, you could sump the stock tank for $50 and save a few hundred from the cell and Y-block and swap it for a larger pump and ensure a solid 1200hp fuel system for around a grand.
Anyways, Ill help ya out on your sales for the shop you like. I like my cell but as you said, many people dont want one. Here is something everyone can do to save $150 or so. Buy the -8 fittings for the stock rail. Our rails are -8s anyways so if running -8 lines why get a larger rail? I think you can get the fittings for around $12 a piece. The regulator you could get for around $120 for a slim Aeromotive regulator.
And yes my Math does suck
I meant cheaper as far as the "kit" part, you dont need the cell or Y-block making it cost around $700 for parts. Im sure someone would put it in for $150 but I dont know... I dont really use people to install crap. I got a problem trusting people with my car.

And Im glad people are getting reasonable prices for fuel system finally. I wasnt trying to attack you or the shop. Im actually impressed. Let me know about these flow charts because I may need to re-think my pump.
