Stock BOV or Aftermarket?

I was wondering what is a better way to go stock bov or aftermarket? I have heard that aftermarket ones make your car run rough and it is bad on you car? And is there any + about aftermarket bov. Thanks

If you are going to get an aftermarket blowoff valve I suggest one that recirculates. The JDM EVO MR BOV is the best IMHO. They come stock on the IX's and are good to 25lbs i believe.

Just like stiguy said, use one that recirculates. I had installed the turbo xs bov, loved the sound it made but I did notice that I was loosing power. The reason I had to take it off was because cops kept following me just because the bov would go off, I was not speeding (well, not in front of them anyways ). Once I put the stock JDM bov, I noticed a huge diference. I just installed a buschur cone air filter, and let me tell you, you can hear that bov go off now!!! I think that would be the best choice, or at least it is for me.

Keep it stock. It will not help performance until you are heavily modified. Any BOV that vents to atmosphere generally causes drivability problems.

It you want a power mod then go with an exhaust or an ECU reflash (or both )

You will need to upgrade from your stock, plastic BOV once you do other mods and raise your boost above stock. When you get to this point, be sure that the BOV you get is fully-recirculating like the Forge RS.

As far as we know, yes. They appear identical and perform the same...

If you havent raised your boost at all - stay with stock
If you have raised your boost but stay under 24 psi - go with jdm mr valve
If you are higher then 24 psi - Warrtalon seems to like the forge rs (i personally have no expierence with it)

If you want it to be loud and annoying or sound "cool" basically go with any of the other bov options

My cousin has a IX and the stock bpv held up well @ 24 psi. He recently upgraded the turbo and in turn raised the boost, he now runs 28 psi (peak) tappering down to 23-24 psi @ redline. At those boost levels the stock valve was not enough so he installed the Turbosmart 38mm dual port BOV. He told me he likes it a lot and it holds his 28 psi like a champ, he says it drives just fine with no stalling or idle issues. When I start to run those boost levels and the stock valve fails me I'm going to go with Turbosmart. Like everyone else said if you don't plan on boosting more than 25 psi then get the jdm mr valve or the stock IX valve.
