The IX turbo ROCKS! I'm runnin 23psi around town all the time with a VISHNU flash and it is spectacular.....spool is as early as 2500RPM and peaks around 2800-3000 depending on gear. My 2cents, slap it on and crank up the boost!

the 9 turbo is an awesome piece. i wish people would see that. just the fact that they used clever engineering to increase the boost up of the car. the evo9 turbo is now a more complete nad more advanced turbo even without the magnesium inards.

consequently the difference in spool you see in the bmi video is mostly due to the mg wheel cuz the cut away doesn't allow for you to see the other more invisible affects. only the boost gauge lets you see those.

Here is a 03 evo with IX turbo and a 05 evo with stock turbo, it's not a apples to apples test but you can kinda figure out what the 03 with the IX turbo would do if it had the same mods as the 05 evo with stock turbo. Upgrading to a IX turbo on a 05 is probably worth another 15 or so whp over the 05 evo with stock turbo on 91 pump gas.

LOL! I love your sponsor razorlab ...
Now I wonder what the power difference is between an EVO9 with just a TBE and tuning and an EVO8 with just a TBE and tuning.

Hasn't Shiv done this comparison?

Spool at 2500rpm with 280s? Interesting, unless by "depending on gear" you mean 5th gear.

i think he means the beginning of boost up... as he says peak at 2800 and 3000. that's not unbelievable at all. and why would 280s make you spool slower? with cams spool up is affected by cam timing... it's possible to tune for early spool up.

One way is by retarding only the exhaust cam. It supposed to help mid range power and spool up with larger cams and turbos (relativlely speaking)

You'd have to play around a bit as far as the amount and as to how much it helps your set up.

It's pretty unbelievable to me. It means he hits full boost before mine even begins to spool. That's impressive, but I'd like to see a dynograph proving it. I've seen a lot of IX dynographs, and none of them hit peak boost in 3rd gear at 3000rpm (and certainly nowhere near 2800rpm).

what is unbelievable about that? your turbo i'm sure starts to hiss way before 3000. many people report sub 3k spool, some of these claims are a bit subjective and hence dubious but there are people that have had solid sub 3k spool times. i don't understand waht's unbelieveable about this...

It's hard to believe that it starts at 2500 and peaks by 2800 or even 3000. If I see a dynograph with peak torque at 3000, then I'll believe it. Can you show me one from any other IX?

Turbos start to spool way before 2500 rpm...

7.4 psi @ 2600 rpm

This is just data to show that a turbo starts spooling way before 2500 rpm.

As far as some of these mentions of peak spool on IX's, I have no logs for IX's so I have no idea.
