custom intake sizes
custom intake sizes
for those of you that wish to "retrofit" a k&n filter onto your maf or even for a custom turbo intake application. this portion of k&n's site should be very useful.

i've never seen a thread like this so i thought i'd share.
btw... what's the exact size for the stock maf inlet? is it 3"???

3 and a quarter is what the inside diameter of a hose would be, but I think you want the other side if you are hooking up a filter. For that you will need an adaptor. ebay has them for around ten bucks.
the side to the hose - turbo is 3 and 3/16 or so.
the side to the filter is sort of square.
If you are looking for a k&n filter, I just happen to have the offical k&n maf adaptor AND a k&n filter. cheap. I am using something else, so it is a wasted part in my garage

wait... if i have the hks rs then it already comes with the adaptor part for some filter right? i'd just have to measure it :\. this is needlessly complicated... they should just make it the right size... stupid maf.
anyway, how about blow through mafs. does anyone know what coupler diamter is for the 2 gm mafs that machv sells? the 3" and the 3.5? i think those ones are true to their size... but let's get some confirmation.

Awesome!
ok so what the pictures show...
turbo inlet diameter is approx 3". the actual hose is about 3" outter diameter which insures a snug fit.
factory maf outlet is a cool 3" inches inner diameter which is then clamped to the turbo tube.
the stock intake pipe places hte maf about 12" away from the turbo horizontally.
maf inlet is about 3.5" wide and 2.5 inches tall. this hooks up to a maf adapter plate which then puts you into a 3" cone filter.
length of the maf unit is 4" in case you need to calculate where the filter goes in that custom induction box.
