Best shift point with upgraded ex/int

Searched but didnt find it...

Anybody have a good idea what the best shift range is with the stock turbo and a upgraded intake/exhaust? (3" full exhaust)

Asking cause at some rpm the backflow has got to be more detrimental than shifting. On the stock setup it seems like right around 6.5k im losing power but still gaining speed. Looking for that optimum rpm where you are still gaining both.

I know it sounds wierd but feel its a valid enough question to ask.

thanks

I believe that you want to know when your car is making the most power at a certain rpm. I would get dynoed and see at what rpm you make the most power and try to shift there or just at redline. Hopefully this helps you out a little.

It's different for every car. It depends on the power you're making, where you're making it, how quickly you shift, how much boost you're running, your altitude, the year of your Evo, the gearing, etc etc etc. You didn't find an answer to this for several reasons: there's no direct answer for this, and you didn't look in the drag racing forum where this is discussed most often.

Constructive thx! Dont have the parts installed yet and considering alot of the first step upgraded evos are just full exhaust and intake without really touching the fuel system it would be similiar for most of the cars.

Ill look in the other other forums as the previous person suggested.

If you have a dyno chart, you can calculate the theoretical shift point and then fine-tune it for whatever type of racing you do. But it seems that, generally speaking, the more power you make on your Evo, the higher the shift point creeps...
