Kansai air box + aftermarket filter without tune

Hey all, I've been reading up on how it's a really bad idea to get an aftermarket intake system without a tune due to A/F ratios getting out of whack.

However most of these posts deal with the whole intake systems e.g. HKS RS kit InJen kit etc..

Has anyone expiremented with changing to just a pod filter without changing any of the piping down to the turbo? I'm assuming this will still mess with the A/F ratios because as I understand it you need the air to have a clean flow path through the honeycomb to the MAF sensor?

The reason I'm asking is because a guy I know is selling his evo and might be pulling off his Kansai service carbon air box and idea I had was to grab that and just put a pod filter inside of it without changing the piping. If it's going to seriously mess up my A/F ratios I won't do it, but if not I will because damn the Kansai airbox is sexy!

you should be fine, you may notice a slightely lumpy idle but other than that you should get more hp and torque due to the fact that the company built this item for that specific application built and designed for the evo good luck

Thanks eo-boy.

Has anyone else got anything to say? Can anyone confirm that just the filter and not the whole intake kit will muck up the A/F and MAF sensor?

Any more input is appreciated.
