And fine... since you now had to insult me... tell me this. How does one "kit" make so much more power even though they use the identical turbo? Im curious. Show me how stupid I truly am. If you want to claim its from the 02 housing I have 3 w/ dyno sheets and somehow it didnt change crap. The downpipe..... well dont even pretend that ones gonna make a difference. The header... again, I have 3 with dyno sheets any magically... I think there was around a 5-6 HP difference.. WOW! Maybe its the intake pipe lol.

To be honest trina, I do not think its just one piece. I think the difference between a "good" kit and a "bad" kit, come down to all the parts working well together. I also think that getting a good setup, can be done relatively cheaply and easily, I do however believe that the bulk of the power is gained and lost in the manifolds, from what I have seen and read, it seems that the bulk of people who stick with certain styles make more than others, aka ams style vs say rnr style..... My 2c!

Well there arent many parts to work together The 02 housing are pretty much identical. The intake pipes dont change anything obviously. The lower IC pipes are all identical. The turbo is identical. The lines are identical. So yes, that leaves the header (Which I already told you there are plenty of dyno sheets floating around to show there is around a 5 horse difference... which could be just because the car felt like making 5 less that time). But hey, you my as well choose your "camp" and stick with it.

I dont really know what Im talking about when it comes to these things anyways... Thats probably why my car is such a POS. I didnt buy someones kit and I didnt have someone tune my car for me. I actually did it all myself, bought all the parts seperate and tuned it myself. I finally figured it out. I should have shelled out another 2 grand or so to have someone install all of it, buy it in a "kit" and have someone tune it for me.

Im not even knocking anyones product... in fact Im promoting all of them but somehow I still get some crap for it. Oh well Im obviously one of the uninformed on this site and quite apparently have no idea of what Im doing... I love some people.

Im prob the cheapest **** on this forum. BUT the one thing i will not do is buy a cheap kit. I want power more than anything. BUT REALIABLE power is what you want. i will not bargin shop on a turbo kit at all. Its all money well spent.

Buy a reputable kit ( BR, AMS, ECT) The manifolds welds, fittings and all the above are what break over time. Do go cheap theres a good reason why so many kits are more money. AMS Uses nothing but top shelf stuff. Same with BR. So i would stay away from cheaper made stuff. Cams motor mounts. And a good ECU are key. Your Performacne and power are only as good as your tune. So i would suggest using that little search button up top and doing some home work.

I wouldnt run that on the stock clutch you maybe would get 2 feet before it starts to look like hell.

TRINABABE said, you get what you pay for.

i have been hearing some stuff about PEAKBOOST kits. Correct if wrong but arent they huge into hondas? I know i have done a few of them here at the shop and they are all pretty nice from compared to some of the crap i have seen

TURBOTRIXs 50 trim kit i will get a Good review of this weekend when going down to see them tune a buddies car. So you will get my piece on that.

Trina, I am not knocking your views or practices in anyway, in fact I agree, and said that I would piece my own together, as I said If I had the cash, full race manifold, gt35R of choice, tial 44mm vband wastegate, and an exhaust shops 3 inch dp, I'll make my own lines out of AN just to make it nice on too, and I would fab a simple intake myself.... if I wanted to run a gt35r.

I was directing my comments towards SmogRunner.... not you. I read that you believe in making your own personalized kit which is what I like. Whats the point of spending more money to have whatever parts they send ya? Almost all of these kits are like that. You could buy individual pieces of it and it ends up being cheaper with the same parts. In fact, I just did a fuel cell price break down and funny enough it was $400 cheaper than Buschurs (Without install) and alot cheaper than AMS' (Thiers isnt technically a cell though). My way also uses bigger lines and you have your choice of different pumps, cell sizes, line sizes, etc...

This is why I will always do it myself. I get exactly what I want... if I want to run the exact setup they do then I can buy the same parts for cheaper anyways. I keep the same phylosophy for tuning.... why pay $300-$500 for tuning when you could learn to do it yourself for free and take a few hours doing it yourself... it also helps you troubleshoot if problems arise and makes it so you can watch out for signs of problems to prevent failure.... for some reason a ton of Evo owners on here destroy motors... more than I have ever seen of any type of car for the low HP levels they are making.

Anyways, good luck with the turbokit. Buschur, AMS, Peakboost, Ron Shearer, etc.... They all make good stuff. If it were me personally I would take Shearer over any of them. Hes a bad *** dude, makes bad *** stuff and will help you with whatever you need. You get free personal attention with him. Hes not a huge shop aiming to sell 100 kits in a year.

TB,
First, you assume that vendors all use the same 35R turbo with the same specs. What makes you think that? Second, do vendors all integrate the wastegate into their exhaust manifold in the same fashion? Do they all use the same same wastegate? Do all vendors account for thermal expansion in the same way when designing the flanges? Do they all support the weight of the turbo and manifold with the same approach to braces and brackets? What quality of steel are the manifold, etc made of. Do they all provide the same quality slim radiator fan? How do they vent the wastegate gases? Are they recirculated or vented to atmosphere? Does your brand come with a warranty? Does one brand have a history of fasteners/bolts coming loose? Will you have to redesign your radiator top outlet?

These are just some of the things that come to mind. Turbo kits are not even close to being all the same. There are huge qualitative differences as well as performance differences.

So, is the AMS kit worth the extra money compared to the buschur kit?

Full-Race.com is the kit you want. They dont use an o2 housing. The down pipe comes off the turbo. 3" all the way. It is not cheap however. Ill post pics soon. Just waiting on a Tial 44mm BLUE WG......dont ever order blue........

few differences peakboost uses 321 stainless steel which is much stronger than 304ss (which most headers are)($5,700 for full kit with intercooler and piping and tial wastegate and bov- this kit also comes with a pwr evo5 style radiator,,, or $4,300 turbo kit alone)
,,
full race uses 316H which is high carbon stainless steel and is good for high temperatures but doesnt stay that pretty looking ($5,700 for ball bearing turbo with tial wastegate and bov, with intercooler and intercooler piping),

dont forget to read alot on 35r's before you jump into it and get one, also I dont remember where you are from but check on your areas elevation levels!!

slow boy racing uses a cast stainless steel manifold and 02 housing ($3500, for turbo kit alone - $4,500 for turbo with tial wastegate and bov, with intercooler and intercooler piping)

I have the Shearer GT35R kit and I couldnt be happier with it...the quality of the manifold is top notch and fits perfect. The car hauls *** at only 25psi with pump gas.

AMS and Buschur should be your choices. Both have years with the 4g63 and endless hours of design, fabrication, dyno testing, and personal reviews of their products.

What you pay for is what you get in this purchase. Damaging and replacing parts can cost alot of time and money!
