i would think any good build motor for such as pistons, rods, pins, head work, vavles and cams then will beable to go to 10k all day but other then that i dont think you would want to for a long time. or you go boom

Early 4g63 engines had no problem with 10k over revs from missed shifts. The evo has a superior valvetrain that can rev even higher. The pistons on the evo are also much lighter. again making it rev higher safely.
Redline to 8500 not a problem at all. Accidental over revs well over 10k would not be a problem.

Ive had mine set at 8K for over a year now an no problems, and there wouldnt be. I have valvesprings/retainers for safety (easier to install while doing cams) so I did them at the time, but yeah no problem at all.

humm i would be scared of having the pistion give in. but then again there are people there traping higher then 4th gear so they just turn the max rev up to 8000 8500 and never seen them have a problem.

I was running 8500 rpm, with BC valvesprings and retainers, and Cossie M2's on a 9 MR and I missed all kinds of shifts!
