If I remember right, there was a recall on the cooling fan on some evos. Mine was one of them. Even with my mods, they didn't care. Just replaced the fan and left. Took 30 minutes. Are you the original owner? If not, maybe the previous owner didn't go in for the recall which was the case of my friend. He ended up selling the car and it was never fixed at the dealer.
