Question Radiator Aux Fan Help

Hey guys,

I will be ordering a new aux fan fo my build and wanted/needed to know:

1.(Not talking about ac fan) is the stock fan 2 speed? The wires from the fan control unit that goes to the fan, split into 4 wires (to the motor)??

2.What is the stock fan circuit amperage (I dont want to get a fan that will overload the circuit or alternatively I will up the amperage of the fuse)... Correct me if im wrong... 50 amp protection?

3. When wiring up an aftermarket fan, should I or do I have to retain the stock fan module? I figured it would be the best way for the fan to be variale depending on cooling demand based on ecu inputs (if it matters at all, I wil be on AEM EMS II)

Thanks in advance,
Chris

1. The stock fan is a 2 speed. There is only 2 wires that run from the fan module to the fan.

2. 50 amp protection is stock and I think you wouldnt have to up the amperage.

3. Yes I think you should keep the fan module, it keeps things simple and the fan can be controlled via the ECU.

Thank you for the response, it is greatly apreciated

With regards to the stock fan only being 2 wires... it is two wires from fan module that splits to 4 wires at the fan... does this mean I must get a fan that utilizes a 4 wire connection or is it mute and the fan module does all the 2 speed function.. ie any aftermarket fan will do

The fan I am looking into
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-16925/
But if 2 speed does not matter at the fan then a better fan is available

4 wires as seen above...

Thank again for clearing up 2 of my questions, it is greatly apreciated

Kind regards,
Chris

I see! I must have missed that when I was checking mine out. When I was running a slim fan and the oem fan module, I wired the 2 wires from the module to the fan. The slim fan only operated at 1 speed.

Sorry for the wrong info, glad you figured it out.
