Wastegate size

On the stock turbo, what size wastegate is needed? I'm looking at a 50mm one right now. I don't want to buy something to big so please help me out on my decision.

i think that that could be overkill. i had a 44mm in my civic hatch(granted it's not an evo)with a 62-1 turbo at 26 psi making 529whp and it was fine and even my friends 2nd gen didn't run one that big making 629whp. i don't know if running a bigger than needed wastegate will really hurt you much but i think a 50mm on a 16g may be a bit large. you could probrably get away with a 38 or 40.

Not real sure what your asking but the stock turbo uses a internal wastegate.

this is a very good point. does anyone make a manifold and 02 housing that can convert to an external? i guess that is the only way your question would be valid.

On the 05 turbo the opening is 34mm if I am not mistaking. Don't get to freaky on the size as too big or too smal can negatively influnce the flow and turbulence
