Intake worries?

Does anyone have info./worries about water from the hood vent getting in an aftermarket intake?

What is the location of the aftermarket intakes for the E8? (how close to the vent is it?)

Yes, that's why I'm going with a drop in K&N filter. I noticed that the rain coming through the hood vent is dripping on the exhaust manifold and it's rusting.

I noticed that too, also i notice water on the air box, and the air collector that leads to the box when it rains.

Make a housing for your intake.. or buy an aftermarket one. The manifold bolt change to harden stainless steel bolts.... a little pricey and not readily available at the local hardware store, but well worth the results (unwanted rust look in engine bay)

doesn't GReddy make universal peice for your intake that stops water from getting into your engine? i have seen them advertised for $35 which isn't bad as long as they work.

How about AEM they have a good reputation for quality intakes and they have their water bypass valve which is proven to keep water out of your engine. I belive they have a kit available for the EVO VIII.

I think Monster has a pretty cool looking carbonfiber air box. It still has the ramair thing, also it wont get soaked with water. I have never thaught about that one. Our hoods do let alot of water in, when it rains or when we wash it.

I think the drop in K&N will be the best way to go.

Its been dyno proven that an intake is not going to help you enough to actually worry about changing it . Why not just drop in a k&N filter?
