This time I'm doing things differently....I'm looking for genuine Ralliart or Mitsubishi parts *only* for my EVO. I know folks make good parts and lots of manufacturers are making great exhausts and all, but I do not wish to go that route again.
Anybody know where to get the appropriate Ralliart "sport muffler kit" for the EVO VIII?
Thanx,
Manuel

Did you get a chance to hear it? My WRX turbo back was too loud and I was happier with the sound after I put it back stock.... (it came with a Dinomax muffler)

I didn't get to hear the Extreme exhaust at high revs, but it was pretty quite at low revs/ when idling. Terry (the father -- it's his car) said it was relatively quiet, though. He said he doesn't want the new turbo-back system to be too loud, since he will be driving the Evo a lot. FWIW, the cat-back was 3 inch mandrel-bent stainless steel, but they will also have a Ti system (probably just the muffler). Terry also said the ss cat-back was significantly lighter than the stock system.
I just called Vivid. The jic that they will have available in May was made for the Evo vii, but it fits the viii as well. (around an inch or more shorter. I dont really like the idea of it not fitting perfectly, so I am waiting. I was checking out RMR products, they look good. Also curious to see what Thermal will bring.

silver,
I believe you are referring to the SportCompactCar 350Z article. There are a couple of things to keep in mind. The exhaust they used was pieced together using parts for a different application (porsche, IIRC.) Also, the Z is naturally aspirated, and thus exhaust upgrades are not as beneficial. Add on top of that, Nissan did a lot of research to design and extremely effecient stock system.
As you can see, this wasn't really a recipe for success. You will probably be hard pressed to find a cat back exhaust for the EVO that loses power.
Just my 2 pennies.

This is why I'm leaning towards only using Ralliart parts or something equally as good.
