jic catback titanium exhaust

Well I talked to VividRacing. Good guys. The jic titanium catback exhaust has been ordered. Sending them a cashiers check on monday. Good guys over the phone. Exhaust weighs around 10 lbs, and gives you around 13hp. (based on uprgrades with their own evo viii) Any thoughts?? Its on back order till the end of May, so I wait impatiently. Also have my grounding kit ordered from

10lbs huh? Dave Buschur said the stock system weighs 60lbs. His new exhaust system for the evo will weight 20lbs. That means you lost 50 lbs!!

Did you get a cat back system only?

It is the catback only. It replaces (per vivid) 30lb stock catback with 10lb jic catback.

I think the main problem with the current JIC exhaust is that it is designed for a JDM Evo 7. On the US Evo 8, it is not long enough, and doesnt clear the rear bumper.
At a stoplight especially, you are going to be heating up your rear bumper quite a bit.
It was brought up to vivid a bit ago, but I don't know if it has been corrected yet. My assumption is that it's not.

Thanks for the info, i have this cashiers check sitting in my hand right now, I hadnt mailed it yet (doing it monday). I will give vivd a call on monday to find out whats going on. I dont mind paying top dollar for quality, but I also dont want to put this much money into something, and not have it sink up okay. They mentioned the O2 sensor to me, said it was an easy fix that most pro-shops can fix easily. (no big deal), but that part about it not clearing the rear bumper and heating it up, i dont like that. Im trying to do as much research for the best exhaust. Once again, any help is appreciated!

Yeah, that was me. I think if someone just made a 2 inch or so spacer that it would solve the problem. Like a 2 inch long test pipe.

The only thing I'm worried about is that the mufflerwont be able to be pushed out because it will hit the back side of the bumper.

I made this in photoshop:

thanks for the info guys, sounds like I gotta make a couple phone calls. Any other advice for a catback? I just really like the performance this catback puts out, and the weight.

My suggestion is wait until Vivid can get JIC to fix the length of the exhaust.
The other idea would be to get the Titanium exhaust from AMS.

Can you or someone else direct me to the appropriate website to find this exhaust (AMS)? I sure would like to do that upgrade....

Thanks,

Manuel

I recommend you wait and get the RMR exhaust. I spent some time today talking to Rhys Millen and she showed me what they have planned for the evo. They had an evo 8 with their full exhaust with the downpipe, hi flow cat, and cat back system. VERY NICE. I was amazed how quiet it is even when revving. He said at least 20 - 30 lbs lighter than the stock system too. My mind is pretty set on the RMR system. Wait til you hear what they have planned for their new replacement cat...
