Faster spool on Stock IX..

I recently had a birthday on the 15th and i have ran into some spending money, so why not make my turbo spool faster ^^. I was thinking Drop-In Filter, and U/L/IC piping, exhuast(i already have HKS CRBN TI canister for my old IS300, just need piping/good welder) ? Depending on how far i want to go with the exhuast, could i keep warranty with these mods? Thanks cya

I think you are in the right direction with the mods. If you are worry about the warranty you should keep in mind having the mods removed whenever you take the car to the dealer for maintenanceCarlos

I'm not sure why faster spool would be your first worry when the IX already spools faster than the VIIIs due to the MIVEC. Upper IC piping will do nothing but burn a hole in your pocket, nor will the drop-in filter in terms of spool. The LICP will definitely help, and a full 3" exhaust would help, but not just a cat-back. IT's the bigger downpipe that helps spool due to the lessened backpressure. Warranty coverage is dependent upon the dealership, and most would not look kindly upon a full turboback exhaust - they only allow cat-backs.

Btw, what bluebanana was TRYING to say in not so eloquent terms was that the Magnusson-Moss Warranty states the dealership must PROVE that a certain aftermarket part caused the failure before they can deny your warranty claim. Unfortunately, most just ignore this rule and do whatever they want, because the vast majority of us don't have the time or money to pay a lawyer to do something about it...

I hope one day an Evo owner who has the means gets a huge lawsuit together over pulling warranties like they seem to be notorious for considering many of these cases are not even close to being mod related.

O2 hsg for $80. Cat modification. TME turbo internals. Port Exhaust hsg and manifold. MBC. As was mentioned...3" DP. If you have your car tuned via a flash, to maximize timing and fuel maps, it should maximize your IX's power.

I've heard the LICP on the stock intercooler and turbo makes no difference and can even make the lag worse. This didn't sound right to me so I told them they were full of it. Can anyone back me up on this one?

LICP helps, but the UICP does not.

NO, that's ridiculous. It very much helps. In fact, most people who buy an LICP still have the stock turbo and FMIC. Maybe they were referring to the UICP - your comment would sound just right if you said UICP instead of LICP.
