which clutch??

I have to get my clutch replaced already. Its only got 6k miles on it but it always felt like it released way too high. If i can't get mitsu to replace it.. which prolly wont happen even tho im friends with the service manager which clutch should i get. I know the Exedy twin plate is awesome but im not trying to spend 1500 on a clutch. I was thinking of the Exedy organic w/pressure plate but havent heard anything about it. I did hear that the ACT was not really any better than stock. I am just trying to get the most for my money. Any suggestions?

I don't know where you heard the ACT was no better than stock. It holds power WAYYYYYYYYYYY better than stock. However, like any single disk, it has its problems that can't be avoided.

Unfortunately, I can't suggest to you a good single disk, because I don't know of one yet. I will be testing a new one soon, but it will be a while before I can give good feedback. The only sure thing is a twin disk like the Exedy HD. Remember that the $1500 includes the flywheel and all necessary parts.

OO ok i didnt know it came with a flywheel and everything. It's a steep price but i guess the best is gonna cost you. That is probably the one i will get if i cant get it replaced.

how much of an improvement is the HD over the non HD.Mainely take up chatter and the decel noise and vibration. had the non HD in my 03, the only thing that bothered me was the decel noise(but thats the nature of the beast. it chattered slightely until it broke in then got a lot better.

did you ntry doing a 5th gear pull from 2500rpm up and see if the clutch is even slipping? my clutch has always engaged what i consider high compared to my past cars, but it's still in there with 26K miles on it, not slipping. i'd def check first before i dumped the dough on a clutch. you can also adjust the pedal to lower the engagement point as the clutch wears.

true.. but even if i am just starting off in first gear it will hardly roll... I honestly think adjusting it would help. I will need a clutch anyways cause of my mods but if i can save it without sepndin any dough it would be nice. Plus it looks like a ***** to adjust the clutch pedal on the IX. Looks like there is no room to work with. Has anybody adjusted one on a IX yet?

It shouldn't be any different than on an VIII. Is there something different down there?

yeah theres a little sensor and a contact switch that engages when the clutch pedal presses it. I aint sure what its for but it gets all in the way for putting a wrench on the lock screw on the pedal rod.

That's nothing different. Just move it. It's for cruise control, which we don't have.

I just bent my bracket out of the way - it was easy.

Adjusting the rod may help it last longer until you get the new one.

Hey, what are these problems? Its not good to give partial info out, kind of like someone posting a quarter mile time and not listing mods.
