I'd go with the Exedy twin disc as well. Have it on my car and love it. It's a great clutch that likes to be slipped. Pricey, but pruven to work well on our cars.

@ 11k miles it is safe to say 99% of the time it is NOT a problem with the clutch. Stay away from service, suck it up and buy an Exedy twin and get it installed pretty much anywhere else.

Hmm, yeah, that's bad. You probably shouldn't be driving a 30k car like this if you don't even have a job. It's probably best to drive a cheap <10k car that you can afford even with your part-time job and that won't require high-dollar maintenance fixes. At your age, I drove a 1-year-used Cavalier that I paid on my own while working part-time in college. I paid it off after driving it 50k miles without one trip to a shop. I then sold it for 6k and used that towards my first DSM, which then went 12.1@113. This was a good route to take. I didn't get an Evo until I was fully self-sufficient with a high-paying job.

Consider my words. I know you love having an Evo at 19 without having to pay for it yourself, but it's not really practical. Just think about it.

So, did my response to the other thread help? At the time, you didn't mention your clutch slipping, but now you mention it as if you knew all along. Was the other problem unrelated or was this the problem?
This is funny. Exedy is added to the signature and all of a sudden we're pushing Exedy products. LOL

ACT XTSS Extreme pressure plate single disc or Tilton twindisc organic/cerametallic combo are both great choices for your application. The difference will be a lighter, free revving clutch with a featherlight pedal effort with the Tilton.

The ACT is more of a brut heavy pedal action which is a is a heavier (in weight) option for a less expensive pricetag.

Good Luck to you at the dealer.

I've always recommended the Exedy Twin, and I've always had problems with my ACT. People just don't notice until I'm sponsored by someone. Notice I gave good info on the ACT 6-puck, too. There was no reason for you to make your comment.

wow, wait about another month and you're going to need tires too. You'll be lucky to get much more than 12k miles out of your stock tires.

the exedy twin is a good choice, but if you want to spend half the money i would go with the ACT with a street disk. Chances are that power wise it will will work for you just fine and for the price you can't beat it.

What's the difference in the pedal feel, sustainable power levels and price between a single disk and twin disk clucth?

Pedal is drastically different. For instance, the ACT single disk has a very stiff pedal pressure to provide clamping force, whereas the Exedy Twin has a much lighter clamping force, because it has 2 plates and doesn't need it. The power levels drastically different as well, but I don't have the power figures in front of me. Once again, price is also drastically different. An ACT HDSS is $500 while an Exedy Twin is $1500, although the Exedy price includes a chromoly flywheel.
